# About
I am a Lead AI Scientist working at Target's AI - Search Team in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2018. I am also an alumnus of the Johns Hopkins University. During my graduate studies, I interned at GitHub as a Machine Learning Intern. Before joining the graduate program, I worked as a Machine Learning Engineer / Applied Scientist in recruitment, food-tech, healthcare domains for more than two years.
I have dabbled in many skills, mixing multiple fields at times. I love solving problems, synthesizing ideas, understanding new concepts. I enjoy creating data products at the intersection of trending ideas. My current focus is around Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Recommendations related problems.
# Recent Updates
April 2022 - Participated in the launch team of this exciting new book - The Business Case for AI by my ex-mentor Kavita Ganesan. I got a chance to review it pre-release and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in leveraging AI in their organization. In the book, Dr. Ganesan has made AI easy to understand through illustrative diagrams. One such figure I liked was of all the NLP problems plotted on a popularity vs practicality grid. My review
March 2022 - Completed co:rise's Search with Machine Learning course, which was a 4-week cohort-based course set up by Daniel Tunkelang and Grant Ingersoll. It dove into using Machine Learning for Ranking, Content Understanding, and Query Understanding. Particularly, I enjoyed working through the learning-to-rank and query-understanding parts of the course. The course is especially useful if you are working in an e-commerce search team.
November 2021 - Completed Stanford's Machine Learning with Graphs course.
August 2020 - During COVID lockdown, I completed Stanford's Natural Language Processing with Deep Learning course.
August 2019 - Received the Chief Data Analytics Officer Award for enabling search on target.com with data science.
November 2018 - Happy to see my internship project - "Related issues" going live (public beta) on GitHub!
June 2018 - I am excited about developing autonomous systems that can acquire language understanding through interaction with their environment.
